A freedom of speech

A guy (31) who posted a death threat to mayor of Kokura, who accepted debris to burn, is arrested.

He posted it in Twitter.

Is it fair?

Is a freedom of speech, expression gone?

  1. A specific and direct threat is never OK.

OK: "I am very upset about this, and I wish that the Mayor were dead"
Not OK: "I am upset about this, and I will kill the Mayor"

The spaces in-between these two are wide and complex.

  2. I think he violates some law, but not a duress. Infringement of mayor's honour at best. Arrest is out of the question.
