Nothing happens

Turnout last night in front of premier's residence was 100,000. But a host of demonstration stopped it before it finish at 20:00. It was a good decision, nothing happens. But nothing changes at the same time. Tomorrow Ohi nuclear power plant restarts without hindrance. The turnout in March was 30.

Premier wouldn't think it over again, but demonstration continues.

In front of a city hall of kitakyushu, for the first time 70 people gathered for demonstration last night.  It was a good mood.

We can change their policy, as long as our demonstration can keep peace.

demonstration

We were worried about weather...it's fine on Friday evening.

Turnout will be overwhelming.

Calmness before storm

On 29th of June a mayor of Kitakyushu met Japanese Premier and reported that the rocker launcher was found in a city of Kitakyushu.

I think he's really afraid of being hit by heavy artilleries.

Relying on heaven

Followings are the list of problematic nuclear reactors in japan

No 1 reactor at Genkai,   36 years old      ductile brittle transition degrees, 98 Celcius degrees

No1 at Takahama,  37 years old,  95

No 2 at Mihama, 39 , 86

No1 at Mihama, 41, 81

no2 at Oi, 32, 70

No1, Suruga, 42, 51

No1, Fukushima Daiichi, 41, 50

They all are old enough for them to decommission, yet electric companies try to restart them and intend to use them up to 50 years.

They will plan to extend estimated lifespan for good.

Heaven helps those who abandon themselves.

How do you think about them, Mr Engineer Poet?

gap will tear away the society.

A mayor of Kitakyushu or Kokura, decided to accept disaster debris as of August. Total cost will be 340 million US dollars, in which 176 million is for transportation.

Still uncertain if it were really held, because a prefectural assembly of a sender side is strongly opposing to the idea and proposing to make use of them in bank against tide.

It is reported that Mayor is afraid of physical threat. 3,800 calls said no to debris, while 160 said yeah.

Crazy scheme

How silly to move & burn radioactive debris

Crazy scheme

From Miyagi to Kokura, the cost of transportation for 70,000 tonnes of debris is 13.8 billion yen which is equivalent to 173 million U.S. dollars.

Town meeting

From 18:30 to 20:10, the town meeting was held in Kokura.  More than 1,000 people gathered in a hall where 500 is a limit.  So some 200 were standing in a hall while other 300 were watching a monitor outside the hall. Town meeting was a success.  TV crews were there.

Overall majority was opposition. Their opinion was scientific and logical, and rational. They came there after they prepared a lot. The idea of Mayor Kitahashi was beside the point. He said he will decide after he considers the move of public opinion. This is a step forward. He visits Ishinomaki, where debris are located, on 10th to 11th decides whether it's necessary to bring them.

Burning debris

Burning debris is not a favourable policy for us all.

For them it's hard to take what unfavourable for us.

Strong opposition prevents them from pursuing their policy.

Two days vacance

We enjoy two days vacance at home.

No on line on Thursday.

spent fuel rods

Many speculate variously how many rods are there.

  1,165 from No 1 -No 3

  2,870, officially it's 1,535 in No 4

11,442 or 10,893 in common pool

376 unused, these are not spent though.

so the total is 15853.

http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/05/28-1

No 4 cool down system stopped

In No 4, cool down system in spent fuel pool stopped. On 5th of May, 11:00 the temperature was 34 Celsius degree. It rises 7.2 Celsius degrees a day. If it boils, the spent fuel rods are in danger.

Now it's 2 PM, 6th of May..the temperature must be 42.1.

White elephant

Tsukumi City, near Kokura, stopped Experimental Incineration because it considers the objection of residents.

Kitakyushu/Kokura Authority holds the town meeting today at Kitakyushu International Conference Centre.

They hold the 4 more explanation meetings for local residents from 8th to 9th.

It is totally unrealistic to carry debris by ship, burn debris 1,300 kilometres away from the site, bury ashes here off the coast.

They have noticed it is irrational and I think they are trying to find the place to say excuse that they intend to stop this plan because of the objection of many people.

A menace from reactor No 4

15,972 used nuclear fuel rods are exposed.

On 25th of May they found a swelling spot in a building, which shows the possibility of collapse.

Recent visit of Environment Minister Hosono.

'Prepare your coffin, you are to die'

Japan's novelist Ryunosuke Akutagawa claimed he found this verse in John's Apocalypse.

I found no verse related to this,  some metaphor might have suggested though.

Radiation of ashes

The ashes in Kokura showed 30 bq/kg.

Niigata, where no debris are burnt but close to Fukushima, shows similar figures.

Tokyo has twenty incinerators and they show 1,000 bq /kg to 3,000 bq/kg, up to 6,000 bq/ kg in Edogawa, the hot spot, in ashes.  They have been accepting debris since last December.

Iwate, Tsunami hit area but no debris are burnt in general incinerators, shows somewhere between.

Result of Experiment

The radiation of original debris was 8 Bq/kg X 80t. 80t of debris were burnt mixed with 9 times quantity of general waste.  So 800t was burnt and ashes are (19 Bq/kg to 30 Bq/kg ) X 26t. According to their calculation, 46,000 Bq was emitted into the air from chimney.

So if they started burning 135t a day, the radiation level given off from chimney is 77,625 Bq every day. This figure is not for per kilogramme but for 135t. So it's very low and ignorable.

Structure of Scrubbers

343,445 Bq original to 111,912 Bq in smoke

The removal rate of Cs 137 is 65.2%

Wave of Radiation

A year ago one part of Japan was overwhelmed by Big Wave called Tsunami

Now whole part of Japan is about to be overwhelmed by not Mexican wave, but a radioactive wave.

Fortunately enough for people outside Japan, the wave is only effective inside Japan proper.

Tsunami was just a prelude to bigger tragedy.

Town meeting

Town meeting on whether to accept debris is held on 6th of June, 2012.  18:30 at Kitakyushu International Conference Centre at Kokura.

500 audience, no reservation needed.

Mayor attends the meeting.

There's a possibility he withdraw his proposal.

Panorama in debris field

This is one of makeshift incinerators operating in heavily hit Miyagi prefecture.

7 ones are under operation and transacting 1,000 tonnes of debris a day.

Poll for debris

pro 160 to con 3,800

As to whether we are pro or con, Kitakyushu city authority is accepting telephone call from general public.  160 pro to 3,800 con as of 29th of May, 2012. How to reply to these voices? Many people believe disaster debris contains harmful chemical and nucleus compounds. They oppose only burning debris, but not opposing to making use of it in banks, etc. off the coast.

Radiation contamination became real.

unrealistic plan

They plan to burn 130 tonnes to 140 tonnes a day in three burners, all are located in very populous urban area.  They bring debris by two cargo ships once per two days.  Their mission continues for two years.

I think it's unrealised and I don't really believe they can accomplish their mission.  They haven't noticed yet how silly to carry waste in ship.  It's understandable to carry something valuable though.  For them debris are mountain of treasure, which is equal to millions of dollars.  Those dollars are bait. They can get tremendous amount of damage in the near future.

Do you think government throws away 50 million dollars for nothing?

Wise people notice it's strange..

Rumour damage

The reasons I object to burning debris in our city;

Health problem.

Very expensive transportation charge.

Rumour damage; one school excursion was cancelled, for example..

People will stop buying fish and agricultural produce from here.

No one can stop rumour damage.

Kokura might get 4 billion yen from government, but we taxpayer have to pay 40 billion instead in compensation for more severe damage caused from this silly behaviour.

arithmetics

The debris needed to be burnt outside Tsunami affected area is greatly reduced from 3,440,000 tonnes to 1 million tonnes.

Kawasaki mayor announced he won't accept debris. Kawasaki is near Tokyo, 300 kilometres from Fukushima .

Amagasaki mayor announced he postpones experimental burning because of the change of situation over broad transaction of debris.

Amagasaki is near Osaka, 800 kilometres from Fukushima.

Kitakyushu/Kokura mayor will announce whether to accept disaster debris on 13th of June.  Kitakyushu is 1,300 kilometres away from Fukushima.

Kitakyushu can transact 40,000 tonnes a year.

Now in affected area 7 makeshift incinerators are operating fully, transacting 1,000 tonnes a day.

By this December total 31 incinerators will transact 5,000 tonnes a day.

For transporting 80 tonnes from Fukushima, Kitakyushu spent Y14 million, which is 179 214 U.S. dollars

If I were him, I won't accept it.

Revenge of Titans started

Once upon a time on earth, the radiation level was still high.

A freedom of speech

A guy (31) who posted a death threat to mayor of Kokura, who accepted debris to burn, is arrested.

He posted it in Twitter.

Is it fair?

Is a freedom of speech, expression gone?

The Day of Last Judgement

I live in 34N - 131 E  radiation free zone.

But as of the middle of June, 130 tonnes to 140 tonnes of radioactive debris a day start being burnt 60 kilometres away from my town. Because Japan is such a mountainous country, radioactive smoke flows from plain to plain.

In Tokyo 700 tonnes of radioactive debris a day have been burnt as of last December. We have reports of minor ailment, and of sudden death by heart attack.

Large portion of people in East Japan still keep on living there.

Is it safe for them to keep on living there?

I believe our area will soon become a hot spot of radiation. I will run away if it does.
