Moses & Paul -one common point

Both committed murder one time in their past.

It is well known that Moses once killed Egyptian slave master when Moses witnessed Jewish slaves were beaten. Moses flew away thereafter.

Paul Killed one or some Christians when he was Pharisees during his campaign against Christianity.

Moses learned from his past mistake and later made law for Jewish people.

Paul would repent his act and later he became one of the most adamant preachers.

Both must have learned a lot from their past.

It is silly to refrain from doing something new while being afraid of making a mistake.

  1. Does this mean we can murder someone and the act be ok as long as we ask for forgivness ? Just because it's a something new ? We are to learn from great people 's mistakes and NOT make the same ones. Yes ,I have studied these two men . They both started off evil doers and both changed and followed God . Good blog my friend and Happy New Year........

  2. Of course not. We can't see what the consequences are before we leap. We'd better not hesitate to do worrying too much about the result.

    Happy new year 2008!

  4. The ACT will not be ok - no. But if the murderer genuinely repents and asks forgiveness, then it's my understanding that HE will be "clean" although he'll probably still have to suffer imprisonment, for instance.
Socially, we have to bear the consequences of our acts. In a wider perspective, it's done for us provided we repent, ask God's forgiveness and, of course, don't do the same bad thing again.
I've heard in your church that God usually forgives us long before we forgive ourselves. But maybe you weren't thinking along these lines?
Sure we should learn from other people's mistakes. The miracle of Love is that we aren't lost even when we learned too late.

  5. In the case of Moses, he happened to have a traumatic childhood and this triggered his on affect killing. (He didn´t make the law, the law was from God).
In the case of Paul, he was a Roman officer/soldier and it was his job to kill the enemy; luckily, this happened before he became an apostle.

The moral lesson: Both are God´s friends because they repented and served God afterwards.

We thank Paul - and God - for his achievements, for without him, we would not be here, altho he is the most controversial of all the apostles. Thinking he didn´t meet Jesus face to face before, in my eyes he is the apostle who attained the most in his "work in the vineyard", and still, his work is going on.

  6. I took it to mean that the fact that we have made mistakes before shouldn't discourage us from trying to succeed again. That we shouldn't think we're worthless or destined to make mistakes whatever we undertake. Instead, we should learn from our mistakes, realize that we have learned a lesson, and get on with our lives.
