Many inmates are waiting behind the death row, but their penalty has not been carried out yet. It's necessary to have the permission of the Minister of Justice to carry out the execution in each cases.
Also the Minister of Justice Kunio Hatoyama declared that there oughtn't to be any waiting for the permission of the Minister of Justice to carry out the execution.
He said death penalty automatically be carried out.
I think this is insightful.
I think so too. Those people are sentenced to death, not to prison under worse conditions than other prisoners, and it must be horrible to sit there waiting to be killed, never knowing when.
ReplyDeleteI once read about a guy in America who had been sitting on Death Row for six (eight?) years. He had repeatedly tried to kill himself, but each time he was "saved". This is torture!
Civilised societies do not kill their criminals...
ReplyDeleteI don't like the death penalty either, but that's rather another issue, imo. If it's there, people should either be executed fast or pardoned and transferred to a normal prison. Letting them sit there waiting for years is simply too awful.
ReplyDeleteTrue, true...
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it that way. Still, my point stands, however, if it exists, get over with it quickly.
I absolutely agree that killing criminals is degrading, cruel, and a violation of a fundamental human right. I just wish there were an alternative to prisons which in many countries are all those things as well. I honestly think I'd rather hang than sit in a - let's say Saudi Arabian prison for ten years. Just an example, I'm not saying that's the worst place of them all.
ReplyDeleteIf the prisoners are truly guilty of a hideous crime and sentenced to death ,then death it should be quickly . Not feed them ,house them and take care of them waiting to die . Consider not ever one on Death Row are guilty .
ReplyDeleteDeath penalty can be abolished only where every nationals have never even thought about committing serious crimes. We have to wait a bit more till a nation matured enough not to involve such cases.
ReplyDeleteIn a current system only Minister of Justice can decide who actually is going to be executed. I must say this is inevitably based on arbitrary political decision rather than the pure judicial decision. If they say the independence of judge exists, the execution ought to be done without permission of the minister.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteThat's nonsense. Murders are still committed in the countries where the death penalty is abolished, i.e. most of Europe. But there's NO evidence that those countries have more murders - in fact, they tend to have less. Death penalty has NO preventive effect.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to send the population the message that "we don't accept killings here", you start by not killing anybody.
There has been "murder" sense the start of humanity .People can't get away with taking another life .That should be taken into consideration .Murder is BAD ,but has always been. Meet force with force !!!!
ReplyDeleteI just might consider your point if there was ANY evidence that the death penalty results in fewer murders. But there isn't. None.
ReplyDeleteNo , there is no evidence of it resulting in fewer murders. Take into thought if it were a family member of yours ,would you NOT want justice ? I don't condon murder of any kind but think there should be JUSTICE for the families that suffer loss.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's justice. I think it's injustice done to someone who has done injustice. Pulls all of us down to his/her level. It doesn't bring my family member back to life.
ReplyDeleteI concede with that reply ,you are correct .
ReplyDeleteThank you. Nice talking with you.
